Charlie Liu
STS Consulting Founder & CEO
Charlie Liu is the founder of STS Consulting. STS is the first Chinese executive search firm to adopt the highest level of global executive search processes and quality control standards; the goal for Charlie and STS is to connect great talents to great companies. Charlie has extensive executive search experience (14 years) having previously worked in Heidrick & Struggles for nearly 9 years and Russell Reynolds Associates for 4 years and has served as a Global Partner, Regional Practice Leader, General Manager for the Shanghai office. He was twice named as the Top-Recruiter of the year in China.
Before his executive search career, Charlie also had 15 years of corporate working experience gained from roles at Honeywell, Dow Chemicals and Motorola as well as a start-up company. In addition to his years working in Shanghai, Charlie has also lived and worked in Hong Kong and the United States.
Charlie has published many articles on talent development and career planning topics. He was interviewed by CCTV for Overseas Talent Recruitment and is a frequent guest speaker for board directors on CEO succession and Chinese Companies’overseas expansion issues.
Charlie is a certified coach of Methods of 100 Coaches by Goldsmith Marshall and is also a certified VISTAGE Coach.
Conan Zhang
STS Consulting COO & Life Science Unit Leader
Conan Zhang boasts an impressive and diverse career, spanning several industries such as in-vitro diagnostics, consumer health, premium consumer goods, and FMCG. He has worked for renowned companies like Roche, Ciba Vision, BMS, and Gillette, where he held multi-disciplined management roles, including business management for Greater China and HR management.
Throughout his career, Conan has developed strong leadership skills, particularly in business and organizational transformation. He has successfully navigated various scenarios, including continuous growth, start-ups, and turnarounds.
Prior to working in executive search, Conan served as a member of the Board of Trustees at Hillfield Strathallan College in Canada, a Canadian Accredited Independent School. He also acted as a Strategy Advisor for e-Leap Power Company Canada, an innovative developer of EV battery solutions.
Since joining STS, Conan has successfully placed senior executives in key positions at major pharmaceutical and healthcare companies in China and India. These roles include COO, GMs, Global CEO, HRVP for pharmaceuticals, and CTO and Principal Scientists for a US-funded IVD group, etc.
Jim Sailor
Senior Vice President-International Markets
Jim Sailor is focused on STS Consulting’s expansion in his role as Senior Vice President – International Markets. Jim draws on his decades of leadership and consulting experience in Asia to provide talent advisory services and coaching. His previous experience includes working for the premium executive search firm Russell Reynolds Associates (Shanghai) where he consulted with a variety of blue-chip clients across the Asia Pacific region to identify, assess and place talent.
In addition to his experience in executive search, Jim has spent over 30 years working in China and Southeast Asia in leading management roles. In his position as the Managing Director of the ASEAN region for technology research firm IDC (International Data Corporation) he was responsible for the management of the region as well as further expansion into newly emerging markets such as Myanmar and Cambodia. He also worked for global market research firm Kantar–TNS where he was Head of Greater China and member of the board of directors for Asia, Latin America and the Middle East/Africa with postings in Hong Kong, Taipei and Shanghai.
Currently based in Kuala Lumpur, Jim works with a variety of clients – corporate, venture capital funds and government agencies - as a strategic advisor and coach.
Jim holds a master’s degree (MSc) in Behavioral Science from the London School of Economics and Political Science. He is also an honors graduate from the University of Wisconsin - Madison where he double-majored in Marketing and East Asian Studies with a focus on International Business.
